Rosemary Cherop Bett
Rosemary Cherop Bett was born on 24 August 1958 to Lawrence Sirma and Marietta Jemenjo. She was the second born in the family of seven children: Elizabeth, Sabina, Philip, David, Kenneth and William.
Education and career
Rosemary started school life at Kilibwoni primary school in 1965 to 1971. She later attended Chepterit Girls’ High School in 1972 to 1975. She was employed in 1979 by the Special Branch which later transitioned to DSI where she worked.
Rosemary was blessed with five children: James Sirma, Joan Chepchumba, Titus Kimutai, Maureen and Ronald Kipruto.
She was mother-in-law to Eunice Tuwei, Brian Otieno and Ruth Mwende. Grandmother to Stacy, Stephen, Adrian, Ethan, Ella, among others.
She was a loving aunt to Patricia, Phyllis, Maryline, Chepng’etich, Cherobon, Chepchumba, Jackson, Gertrude, Felix, Denis, Kipchumba, Cyrus, Tyson, Pravin, Alvin and Bridget among others.
She was mother to many.
Rosemary was loving, loyal, dedicated, caring, resilient, disciplinarian, hardworking and above all loved God with all her heart.
Church service
Rosemary was a strong believer and an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Buru Buru, Nairobi. She was also a member of St. Francis Small Christian Community, Ng’aniat Station, Kapnyegerai Parish.
Illness
Mum was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in December 2022. She was receiving treatment until her demise on 27 May 2024.
